Harmonic Blue Biography
Harmonic Blue is is a musical collaboration which was conceived in August 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland. Harmonic Blue composes music containing a wide variety of undertones such as, Rock, Blues, Soul, Folk, Jazz and Pop. The band currently has four standing members, three of whom having met at the University of Maryland. Singer/guitarist, Zach Field, and bassist/producer, Gabe Bustos first started jamming in the University dorms their freshman year and gradually began performing together during their sophomore year under the moniker Avenue Coup. The following year, Anthony Ajluni, a high school friend of Gabe, brought his talents as a lead guitarist to the duo, forming Gone Van Gogh. Finally Sam Balcom, a lifelong friend of Anthony, joined the team and completed the group currently known as Harmonic Blue. Zach Field's sultry yet gritty vocals are rooted in Soul and Blues, and cites artists such as, Jeff Buckley, Robert Plant and Sting, as having a deep impact on his vocal style. Lead guitarist, Anthony Ajluni, derives his sound from influences such as, Stephen Stills, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and 60′s pop such as, the Zombies. Drummer, Sam Balcom, comes from a deep study of jazz, which in combination with rock styles propels Balcom into territories similar to Mitch Mitchell, Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan and Elvin Jone. These varying styles are woven together beautifully though melodic bass playing by Gabe Bustos, who cites James Jamerson, Pino Palladino and Danger Mouse as sources of musical inspiration. The Baltimore based band has been creating a buzz over the last year in the DC-Baltimore area due to their energetically engaging performances and their newly released EP, entitled "Villa Borghese". In the Spring of 2012 the quartette won the Battle of the Bands at the University of Maryland in College Park, allowing them to share the stage with national artists, such as B.O.B and The Deans List at the University's Spring concert: Art Attack. Live performances are filled with improvisation and renditions, so be ready to hear something new at every show! www.harmonicbluemusic.com NEW EP "Villa Borghese" is available under "Downloads"!
