About this concert
7:00 PM GMT+1025 Going
Gothic Doom Metal originators Paradise Lost to play first Australian shows in nearly a decade. “Fists pump and heads bang… as bleak and cripplingly heavy as in 1991… Nick Holmes’s vocals are full of snarling malevolence.” Louder Than War “Paradise Lost are still among the greatest and most influential metal bands their country has ever produced.” Rockflesh Paradise Lost remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal - a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere. Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored myriad avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with enormous, lush sounds that have left an influence on a trail of artists as varied as Cradle Of Filth, HIM, Gatecreeper, and Chelsea Wolfe. The band’s 2026 concerts promise a furious journey through the band’s catalogue of brutality, with songs from early albums such as Shades Of God, and Icon, classics from Draconian Times, and One Second, blistering works from In Requiem, and Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us, calling at all stations all the way up to their most recently acclaimed opus, Ascension. It all masterfully shows the breadth of what Paradise Lost have done and can do, in a manner that no other band can deliver quite the same. “After 35 years, everything is conscious,” says Nick. “It’s difficult not to be 100% sure of where everything is coming from having such a vast varied back catalogue, but ultimately it simply comes down to if we like the music we are creating or not. If we do, it stays! That hasn't changed since we were teenagers.” Paradise Lost is a band so good at what they do, and so in tune with each other, that every performance is a guaranteed to be mindblowing. Do whatever it takes to witness this gothic-metal machine when they steamroller Australia this October. “Paradise Lost delivered a beyond flawless performance, sounding absolutely heavy, dark and surprisingly vibrant.” The Headbanging Moose “Paradise Lost are alive, well, hungry and invigorated.” At The Barrier “Paradise Lost are classy and self‑assured as they perform, letting the music speak loudest while the crowd completely laps it up.” The Razor’s Edge “The band are simply flawless, with Holmes himself standing out as the most impressive with his vocals throughout.” The Metal Forge “The body of work that PL have assembled over the years is pretty much unsurpassed in terms of its quality, but more than that, it’s the sheer dazzling breadth and scope of what they do.” Maximum Volume “Paradise Lost were and still are a brilliant band to see live, clearly still full of energy and passion.” Brum Live

More than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, Paradise Lost remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled ‘Gothic’, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.

Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s ‘Draconian Times’, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists.

Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, ‘Ascension’, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. The albums 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.

The NEW album ”Ascension”, is out September 19th, via Nuclear Blast Records, Pre-Order and Pre-Save: paradiselost.bfan.link/ascension
