Jon Solberg Biography

Jon Solberg is a Norwegian singer/songwriter and guitarist from Bø in Telemark. He is known, among other things, as the vocalist and frontman of the band Ni Liv, and as a solo artist. Solberg plays guitar, fiddle, banjo, Hardanger fiddle and piano, and he has released 3 solo albums and 8 albums with Ni Liv. Many of the songs have been A-listed on the national radio station NRK P1 over the years. Jon has also played and/or sung on several other recordings, and collaborated with a number of Norwegian artists. Lately with folk singer Anne Gravir Klykken and folk musician Anders Røine.

Jon loves languages, dialects, stories and preferences for the local. This leaves its mark on the music he conveys. He uses simple words about big things, and the words are embedded in rural culture, in forests and mountains, and in cars and country roads. Olav Solvang in Vårt Land put it this way in 2015: “[…] one of the country's foremost songwriters delivers goods that make your head a little wiser and your heart warmer.”
