Ryan Harrison Biography

Ryan was born and raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. From a young age, his curiosity of engineering was evident. This curiosity grew throughout his life and now, it’s music he engineers.

Ryan played clarinet in the Allen High School marching band, but soon became interested in percussion. Despite being told he wasn’t able to switch instruments, he continued to teach himself percussion techniques. After finally being allowed to change instruments, he went on to receive various music awards and honors during the next 2 years of high school. Ryan now attends UNT, where he is studying music and playing in the band.

In addition to percussion and clarinet, Ryan also plays piano, bass guitar, and sings. His debut performance was at his graduation party, where he sang his original song “Love is Painful”. Ryan’s music, though contemporary sounding, is influenced by 50s rock, as well as music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. He composes the music first and the lyrics second. His knowledge of theory and various instruments allows him to write independently and/or collaboratively. Besides being a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ryan is a part-owner and recording engineer at Studio 801.
