Under The Deku Tree

Corvallis-based “DTW” and Portland-based “Under the Deku Tree” are teaming up to deliver an incredible night of music from your favorite video games, featuring tunes from franchises like Mario, Zelda, Halo, Pokémon, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Donkey Kong, and more! This all-ages event appeals to both gamers and music lovers. The soundtrack will highlight Big Band Jazz and Funk-Fusion styles, offering iconic video game themes either as you remember them or reimagined in a fresh new way. DTW first debuted their “Music of Videogames” show and “Double-Jump To Win” EP at the Whiteside Theatre in 2019, earning rave reviews! This show marks DTW’s return to the Whiteside, bringing a new and improved set of video game soundtrack music. Under the Deku Tree (UDT) has been fully committed to growing the VGM music scene since their formation in 2017, blending funk-fusion and jazz with familiar melodies from classic video games you know and love. You don’t need to be a gamer to enjoy this show. Many video game soundtrack composers drew inspiration from the top Jazz artists of the 20th century, broadening the reach of this great American art form into the digital world. Anyone who loves Big Band, jazz, or Funk-Fusion will enjoy the music selection presented by DTW or UDT.
