Outback Biography
England's South coast is home to a growing DIY music scene centered around the doom genre, in which Outback have worked tirelessly since their 2021 inception. Their powerful and brooding sound arises from concoctions of heavy riffs, soaring vocal melodies and murky, psychedelic breakdowns, delivering a chilling and progressive take on the genre.
Massive and atmospheric, Outback draws inspiration from a diverse range of heavy and psychedelic artists across genres. The band's crushing heaviness is rooted in doom metal with bands such as Black Sabbath, Eyehategod, and Electric Wizard, while their moody and haunting side is shaped by atmospheric influences like Windhand and Faetooth. Additionally, the dynamic contrasts and emotional depth found in bands like Deftones and Alice in Chains inform Outback's more experimental and introspective side.
After two well received EP releases, a slot at Desertfest 2025, and a UK tour, original guitarist Jet Mosseri stepped away from the band Subsequently Jake Packham, (also founding member of Black Groove) stepped in on guitar in 2025. Their relentless drive and intense live show has started to garner national attention; since May 2025 they've performed at two of England's biggest doom festivals, and completed two national tours. With a new LP release looming on the horizon and many more live shows in 2026 the band shows no signs of waning.
