Marmoucha Orchestra

As part of the Flamenco Biennial Netherlands, Marmoucha Orchestra feat. flamenco-icon Antonio Lizana and world-famous dancer Ahmad Joudeh present 'Carried by the Wind'. This breathtaking performance takes you on a mystical journey where music, dance, and Sufi traditions from Andalusia, Iran, and Syria converge. A symphony of melodies, rhythms, and movement opens a path to longing, surrender, and deep spiritual connection, where tradition and modern expression meet. Carried by the wind and restless souls: melodies will always be travelling. Some will find their way to places where they are not expected, but where they, long before they can be understood, plant a sense of longing. As a child in Cádiz, Antonio Lizana felt drawn to such echoes from distant lands; melodies that sounded both familiar and mysterious. The music of Omar Farouk Tekbilek eventually opened the door for him to this world of sounds, a first encounter that revived a forgotten connection in a resonance that knew no borders. As a bassist in Lizana’s quintet, Arin Keshishi has closely experienced Lizana’s musical fascination over the past three years. Through countless performances and shared experiences, a deep musical bond developed, which naturally grew into something greater. In his role as artistic director of Marmoucha Orchestra, Keshishi enriched the dialogue with Lizana by introducing new voices and traditions, allowing their musical journey to unfold further and explore new horizons.
