Knobil Biography
Double bassist, singer and composer Louise Knobil invites you to dive into her world, where jazz, punk, glitter and French chanson merge with sparkling, daring energy.
Inspired by iconic figures such as Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus and Boris Vian, this rising star of Swiss jazz transforms her diary into a unique musical adventure. Polyamory, chronic insomnia and pesto recipes come together in compositions that are both personal and universal.
Her impertinent melodies, combining double bass and vocals, gain intensity thanks to the talent of her loyal “knodisciples”: Chloé Marsigny on bass clarinet and effects, and Vincent Andreae on drums.
After two EPs and multiple international tours, including Jazz à Vienne, Studio de l'Ermitage, Jazz in Burghausen and Montreux Jazz, the artist wants to offer a new spontaneous and sincere audio-visual experience of her music: a live concert recorded and filmed on the iconic main stage of the Cully Jazz Festival, in front of 1200 people.
With « Knobilive in Cully Jazz », Louise Knobil defends her vision and her love of jazz, namely risk-taking and the uniqueness of the moment. Taking a chance on a live album means challenging current studio recording techniques, which allow everything to be ‘corrected’. By capturing her concert in its entirety, the artist takes a counter-intuitive approach that highlights her unique artistic universe and offers her audience a new experience.
Album out on October 24 2025!
