About this concert
St. Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham provides free care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses, people approaching the end of life, and people that are bereaved. To support their work, three local music acts are coming together for two fundraiser concerts .... a heart-warming acoustic afternoon or evening filled with song and with the joy of giving. There will also be a raffle draw for some very kindly donated prizes at each concert so please bring cash to buy your raffle tickets. All profits from ticket sales and from the raffle go directly to St Cuthbert's Hospice. "Kiddars Luck" - a North East multi-instrument trio (Colin McLelland, John Dixon, & Mike Davidson), playing local, traditional, & contemorary songs & tunes, mixed with some fine acapella singing.. "Storiella" brings harmony and heart to every note they sing! Featuring Helen Blades, Teresa Driscoll, and Gill Hubbold, their music blends folk, contemporary, and Americana covers with original gems. "Mills & Farrell" are a traditional/contemporary folk duo comprising David Farrell, coming from Australian rock (although originally a Geordie), and Janet Mills from Nova Scotia, with a background in family folk tradition and kitchen music, in a style where Appalachian mountains meets Maritime Salt.

Mills & Farrell Biography

Duo Mills & Farrell are noted for their unique blend of contemporary folk drawn from Australian David Farrell and Nova Scotian Janet Mills. Inspired by Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, The Milk Carton Kids, and The Waifs, they use acoustic instruments and tight vocal harmony to offer a unique folk music expression in telling provocative stories. Choosing tales of human experience, environmental tragedies, or ancient songs from long ago, their sound is a connective live experience.
“… this duo of Australian David Farrell and Nova Scotian Janet Mills once again shine with just and acoustic guitar, a mandolin and their stunning dual harmonies”
-Martin Noakes, Great Dark Wonder
