Joel Veena

Award-winning artist of the 20-stringed Indian slide guitar, Joel Veena, presents an interactive lecture demonstration for all ages and backgrounds about how to understand and appreciate the traditional south Asian music style known as Hindustani music or North Indian classical music. Joel will demystify the music form through explanation and demonstration, live, in-person on his instrument. Audiences will have questions answered like 'what is a raga?', 'what is the tabla doing?' and 'why do they take so long to tune..?!' among any others that might arise through the approximately hour-long session. There will be plenty of time for question and answer at the end and also chai provided. All ages and familiarity levels welcome. $15 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds.
