About this concert
Location Barbican / FreeStage (Level G), Silk Street EC2Y 8DS Join Melbourne International Jazz Festival as they takeover the Barbican Freestage once again! Celebrating the unique and diverse sounds of the Australian jazz scene, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the EFG London Jazz Festival are proud to partner once again to showcase exceptional artists from down under. Jeremy Rose: ‘Disruption! The Voice of Drums’ Led by award-winning saxophonist and composer Jeremy Rose, Disruption! The Voice of Drums is a thrilling tribute to the elemental and disruptive power of rhythm. Featuring extraordinary drum virtuosi Simon Barker and Chloe Kim, the work grew out of Rose’s fascination with their solo drum music, which became the foundation for new arrangements that amplify their distinctive voices. Described as “ground-breaking in concept and monumental in scale” (Ausjazz.net) and hailed as “a brilliant collision of cultures and rhythms… should be brought to international festival stages as soon as possible” (Jazzthetik, DE), Disruption! channels the visceral energy of the drum through dense rhythmic entanglements, ecstatic improvisation and soaring ensemble textures. Erica Tucceri Sitting at the cutting edge of the acclaimed Melbourne/Naarm jazz scene, improvising flautist Erica Tucceri’s impressive output encompasses work as a bandleader, composer, and prolific collaborator with the likes of Don Glori, Surprise Chef and Alexander Flood. Her much-anticipated debut release as a solo artist, "Iliamna" - the first single from her entirely self-composed, arranged and produced album - has already garnered worldwide airplay and praise from the likes of Benji B on BBC Radio 1, and Bandcamp Weekly. Fresh off the heels of her commissioned triumphant sold-out debut at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, her ensemble for this show is an all-star cast of some of Erica's long-term collaborators: Ziggy Zeitgeist (drums), Lewis Moody (keys), and Luke Wynter (bass).

Erica Tucceri Biography

An improvising flutist, composer and producer, Erica Tucceri sits at the cutting edge of the Naarm (Melbourne) music scene.

Hailed as "Impressive" (Beat Magazine), she is one of the city's most sought-after collaborators, featuring on a slew of favourite Australian releases, including: Surprise Chef, Alexander Flood, ZFEX, Don Glori, Jitwam, Teymori, Close Counters, WVR BVBY + more.

With these collaborations garnering worldwide airplay and praise from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B, and Motor City Drum Ensemble, Erica is finally stepping out as a solo artist.

Her debut single "Iliamna" was released in 2023 on La Sape Records. A hypnotic nod to spiritual jazz, “Iliamna” was picked up by selectors worldwide, featuring on BBC Radio 1 and Bandcamp Weekly. Soon after, Erica followed up with a triumphant sold-out debut at the 2024 Melbourne International Jazz Festival, performing and conducting an original suite of music composed for ten piece band with strings.

No stranger to international touring, she will be returning to the UK and Europe in November 2025, but this time with her own band in tow. Ready to premiere her music in the northern hemisphere, Erica also has her debut album in the pipeline. Date announcements soon. Stay tuned.
