The men of Kneebody have been disrupting the jazz scene since the early 2000s. Their blend of jazz, rock, funk and electronica is uncompromising, virtuosic and explosive. With their unique approach - including live effects and an almost telepathic group dynamic - they take you on a rollercoaster ride of grooves and surprises. Grammy-nominated Kneebody is often compared to The Bad Plus or Snarky Puppy, but is more radical, ragged and unpredictable. Formed in Los Angeles, the band became a live sensation, collaborating with the likes of Theo Bleckmann and Daedelus. After a hiatus, Kneebody is back as a quartet, hungrier than ever. What began as an experiment with sensor technology evolved into a distinctive universe where drum 'n' bass, ambient, jungle, and jazz converge. On his debut album, Oktopus Mekaniks (2024), Pierre translates studio ideas into spectacular stick choreographies and breathtaking improvisations. On stage, VAAGUE is one with his instrument and computer. He triggers samples, builds layers and grooves, and retains the freedom of an improviser. There are no pre-programmed loops or safety nets — just rhythm, technique, and the joy of playing.
