JP Coimbra

JP Coimbra is an awarded portuguese composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, writing for film, television and theatre.

Attracted to music since childhood he created his first compositions using a sampler, mixing different musical backgrounds. This early experience fuelled the creation of his first music project, MESA. The release of the self-titled debut album (MESA, 2003) rippled through the Portuguese music scene. MESA recorded 5 more albums, eluding any attempts to be categorized and established JP Coimbra, not only as one of the leading Portuguese composers, but also as a musical director, producer and multi-instrumentalist.

On his first solo record VIBRA, a mix of classical and electronic landscapes he uses untreated spaces and structures like subway stations, concrete buildings and a subterranean river as extensions of his musical instruments.
