Join us for an evening of vibrant performances and a shared celebration of the beauty of diversity. Laal Taal East meets West in a fusion of Bollywood, Disco, Rock, and Cosmic Synths. Featuring Nikhil and Rohit Rao of Bottled Up, Mathew Poovan on Sitar, Akash Apte on Guitar, and Vishal Narang of Airhead DC. NAYAN Band leader Nayan Bhula, looking like your “Dad’s accountant or doctor” (actual after show quote), has spent decades in the local scene and touring, tearing down those stereotypes of rock n roll. Along the way, he’s shared bills with Rilo Kiley, Lungfish, Moneen, Travis Morrison (Dismemberment Plan), Juliana Hatfield, Laura Stevenson, Biz Markie, Khaira Arby, to name a few. The new band leans on his post-punk, indie rock roots, and adds some synths. Taking inspiration from DC punk, an unwavering devotion to classic rock n roll, and the 80s New Wave he grew up on. For these shows, NAYAN also plays rock versions of a few Bollywood Classics!
