Redtenbacher’s Funkestra – FUNKOPIA Tour
Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Redtenbacher’s Funkestra return to the stage with their trademark brand of high-energy instrumental jazz-funk. Bandleader Stefan Redtenbacher—the Austrian bassist, composer and producer—has nurtured this project since its founding at Berklee College of Music in the mid-90s, evolving it into a long-standing collective of top international players.
For the past five years, the Funkestra has also served as the Masterlink Sessions Collective, recording hundreds of songs across genres with artists such as Rumer, Connor Selby and Jo Harman. Out of these activities grew the Joni Reimagined Project, with Stefan at the helm, which has produced two albums, international live shows and sold-out performances at Ronnie Scott’s, culminating in a successful UK tour earlier in 2025.
Now, with the FUNKOPIA Tour, the Funkestra return to the live stage to celebrate their 30th anniversary in tandem with the release of the milestone album FUNKOPIA, out on 3 October 2025 on RSB Records.

Redtenbacher's Funkestra Biography
UK based Redtenbacher's Funkestra are the brainchild of bandleader, principal composer/arranger, producer and bassist Stefan Redtenbacher. He is obsessive about creating original music resulting in their formidable output - over 20 records and live perfomances in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, etc. They have collaborated with Funk and Jazz royalty like Lenny Pickett, Fred Wesley, Alfred 'PW' Ellis as well as contemporaries like Eric Krasno, Cory Wong, Benny Greb, Stanton Moore and the horn sections of Prince, Tower of Power, Incognito and Brand New Heavies. During the last five years they have also operated as the studio band for the 'Masterlink Sessions' and have cut hundreds of songs for artists in a wide range of genres from Psychedelic Rock to Americana and Country. Deeply commited to recording the band live in the studio they always have one foot in soul and the other in jazz funk and associated genres.
