Her music fuses swing, standards, blues, Latin rhythms, and original compositions, all through a Mediterranean-tinted lens with exotic flair. Black Olive Jazz Biography

KAY KOSTOPOULOS (Vocals) is a professional actress who teaches at Stanford in the Department of Theater, Graduate School of Business, and School of Medicine. Kay is also a multi percussionist, paying homage to such enduring masters as Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie and their groundbreaking offerings to the “world music” genre.

A founder of Black Olive Jazz, Kay has been lauded for her “velvety vocal work” by Billboard magazine. She has appeared in premier Bay Area venues including The Venetian Room, Fillmore Street Jazz Festival, Union Street and Sausalito Arts Festivals, Ghiradelli Square, Herbst Theater, The Sonoma Jazz Society, Vallejo Jazz Society, Palo Alto Jazz Alliance, Napa Valley Jazz Society, Healdsburg Jazz Society, Sacramento Jazz Society, Stanford Arts Intensive, and Stanford Hospital Bing Concert Series. Kay is a prolific jazz lyricist who composes for many fellow musicians. Her partner, Noel Jewkes is the premier saxophone player of the San Francisco Bay Area.
