The Multi-Story Orchestra: Stuck

Blending the raw energy of grime, drill and Afrobeat with soulful gospel and orchestral scores, Stuck is a bold new musical that explores home and community. Stuck tells a deeply personal and politically charged story about community, nostalgia and the fight to hold onto the places – and people – that shape us. At its core is the relationship between an ambitious young man and his barber uncle, whose shop – and way of life – are threatened by a looming redevelopment project. When a letter from the council arrives promising a bright new future, their clashing perspectives spark a battle neither of them realises is already lost. As the uncle’s early dementia brings hidden struggles to the surface, the nephew is forced to confront what home really means – before it disappears forever. Stuck takes you beyond the big headlines and into the inner thoughts of everyday people, articulated by a powerful narrative and catchy but moving songs. The Multi-Story Orchestra is a collective of artists creating original music that reflects and uplifts communities. Believing in the power of collective ownership, the orchestra flattens traditional hierarchies, ensuring that every voice on stage contributes to the story, with the orchestra itself becoming the narrator. This event is held at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall.
