About
Join us in honoring Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month with A Walk in the Woods at our beautiful mountain property, Button Rock Preserve on Saturday, October 4th. At this event we will begin with a guided botany walk led by local volunteer botanists focusing on plants that hold significance in Latinx cultures. We will wrap up the event with a live musical performance from Chicano folk musician, Antonio Lopez. Antonio is a local celebrated Chicano folk musician whose lyrics often explore identity, place, and the natural world. https://www.antoniolopezmusic.com/
A Walk in the Woods bridges nature, the arts and culture, honoring Hispanic and Latinx heritage through an inclusive, educational, and meaningful experience. The event will foster a sense of belonging, promote cultural pride, and inspire conservation and sustainability-minded action in our shared landscapes.
After the event, we’d love for you to join us for a warm cup of tea and meaningful conversation at Honorable Harvest Apothecary in the nearby town of Lyons, just a short 15-minute drive from Button Rock Preserve. They’ll be crafting a special tea blend just for this occasion, and your first cup is our treat!
Event details will be sent out 3-5 days in advance. Spanish interpretation will be available at the event.

Antonio Lopez Biography
Antonio Lopez is a quiet man with something to say. His music is like an onion, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener.
“Here We Are,” the new album by Antonio Lopez, explores the intimate connection between our hopes, dreams, and fears. “Here We Are” is an alluring collection of songs written by an artist wrestling with his ego as he chases success and slow dances with failure. Through the lens of his indigenous Chicano roots, Lopez speaks many truths with gentle precision. Rather than tell the listener what to feel or think, Lopez invites you to see yourself reflected in the lyrical stories created by his music. His new album “Here We Are” is available now for streaming on all major platforms and purchase on CD and vinyl through www.antoniolopezmusic.com.
Antonio Lopez is a Colorado native of indigenous descent. Born and raised in Alamosa and now residing in Longmont, he grew up steeped in the Chicanx culture of southern Colorado.
The Antonio Lopez Band is:
Antonio Lopez - guitar, vocals, piano
Chad E. Mathis - bass, vocals
Jonathan Sadler - marimba, vibraphone, aux percussion, vocals
Christopher Scott Wright - drums, vocals
