Broken Creek
Folk from the Archive: Songs of Land, Loss and Lore with Broken Creek, Cat and Clint & Archer
Wesley Anne
250 High St

About this concert
Join us for a night of reimagined Australiana where old songs meet new interpretations with three acclaimed folk acts from regional Victoria—Broken Creek, Cat and Clint, and Archer.
Archer opens the night with his surreal, moving poetry and songs. With a raw, timeless voice and the soul of a poet, Archer is a wandering storyteller who sings by rivers, in nursing homes, and for children.
Cat and Clint are an old-time duo who weave sweet vocal harmonies with banjo, fiddle, and mountain dulcimer. Whether it's a murder ballad, a crooked fiddle tune, or a song of longing, they play with authenticity and deep respect for the tradition.
Broken Creek reimagine rural Australian folk traditions, blending old-time banjo, flat-picked guitar, and fiddle. With close-knit, conversational playing, Erin and Lachlan breathe new life into bush songs.
In this special performance, Broken Creek will launch their new EP, Folk From the Archive: Sally Sloane, joined by double bassist Nick Henderson

Broken Creek Biography
Broken Creek weave compelling musical reimaginings of Australiana for banjo, guitar, fiddle and voice that tell stories from Australia’s past and present.
Erin and Lachlan Heycox grew up in rural Victoria steeped in bushbands and balladeers. Named for the creek they live near, ‘Broken Creek’ signals a love of country and traditional folk music with an adventurous musical bent to “break” with the conventional.
Broken Creek’s second album ‘Yeah Nah’ features songs about small-town Australia, tunes inspired by the land and subversive interpretations of traditional Australian songs.
Broken Creek’s debut album ‘Small Town Anthropologies’ was a finalist for FAA Traditional Album of Year (2022). It launched a three-month national ‘Small Town Tour’ that included pop-up choirs, church halls, folk festivals and recording tunes in gorgeous locations.
Broken Creek have continued sharing their music and stories with audiences across the country, from stages at festivals (Cygnet Folk Festival, CresFest, Newport Folk Festival, Tablelands Folk Festival, Shepparton Arts Festival) to support slots with Australian folk and country legends Fanny Lumsden, The Bushwhackers and the Weeping Willows.
