About this concert
Hope you can join us on Fri, Oct 3! No cover charge as always at the Princeton. CHINA SYNDROME is a rockin' melodic power pop band from Vancouver, who combine the driving pop hooks of XTC and Sloan with liberal doses of classic rock influences. Georgia Straight states their album, Hide in Plain Sight, "continues to showcase superb songwriting… with songs every bit as engaging, tuneful, angsty and varied in their influences.” Keen appreciation for melody, melancholy, and noise is THE SYLVIA PLATTERS' stock in trade. Described by Rosy Overdrive as “one of the best guitar pop bands going,” the Vancouver fourpiece has been crafting idiosyncratic jangle pop gems since 2014. Their 2024 Grey Lodge Records debut Vivian Elixir received international praise and peaked at #7 on the national earshot! charts. There is nothing sudden about SUDDEN DARTS. A hard-edged, psychedelic band with roots that go back decades with a pedigree punch of punk ‘n’ pop that’ll knock you sideways. This quartet is firing full-bore, releasing their Oh Yeah! album.

The Sylvia Platters Biography

Keen appreciation for melody and melancholy is The Sylvia Platters' stock in trade. Described by Rosy Overdrive as “one of the best guitar pop bands going” the Lower Mainland outfit has been crafting idiosyncratic jangle pop gems since 2014. Brotherly songwriting duo Nick and Tim Ubels' knack for indelible lyrics and melodies is the bedrock of the band's distinctive voice. Their 2024 Grey Lodge Records debut Vivian Elixir received international praise and peaked at #7 on the earshot! college and campus radio charts. Recently joined by longtime friends and new musical collaborators Kyle Schick and Ian Fildes, the group is preparing to release a new set of five songs: the next chapter in the band's unfolding story.
