Makar Novikov

Makar Novikov is one of the most renowned Russian jazz double bassists. As an experienced accompanist and virtuoso soloist, he has performed with artists such as Jimmy Cobb, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, Antonio Faraò, Wayne Escoffery, and James Spaulding. Makar Novikov's music combines intelligence and intuition, precision and creativity. Energetic, captivating grooves meet original melodies, adding a danceable touch to the term modern jazz. His music is free-spirited, cosmopolitan, and aims to bring people together. "Long Journey," his debut album as a bandleader, will be released in Fall 2025 on the Rainy Days Records label.
