About this concert
The 60-year celebration of The Grateful Dead at Golden Gate Park this August was just the beginning. The Dead, their legacy, and their fans keep on truckin’, and this evening at the Lost Church brings Grateful Dead experts, intimates, and dedicated fans together to spread the love and share the memories. Join Litquake co-founder, journalist, and author Jack Boulware as he moderates this Deadhead line-up: Amelia Davis and David Gans (The Grateful Dead by Jim Marshall), Jim Newton (Here Beside the Rising Tide), and Dennis McNally (The Last Great Dream). No Dead evening is complete without music, so David Gans and Bob Bralove will entertain with some favorites, and Gabi Moskowitz, author ofDead in the Kitchen, will share some “bites” as well. Doors at 7:30pm. $25 / $3 early bird discount until October 19

David Gans Biography

David Gans delivers literate, improvisational folk-rock with looping in a “solo electric" setting. A solo Gans show is likely to consist of several elements: country-blues-style fingerpicking; loop-based improvisations created live in the moment; sweetly-sung ballads, original or borrowed; Grateful Dead songs reinterpreted to suit his voice and guitar; wry observations of the music-festival subculture and the larger world; soulful and passionate political commentary; favorites from the folk-rock canon of the last 50 years. Mix and match - it's never the same show twice, but it's always worth a listen.
