Offbeat-Fans aufgepasst! Mit der dritten Veranstaltung „time to rocksteady“ bringen wir den jamaikanischen und britischen Sound der 60er Jahre mit gleich 3 frischen Bands aus der Early Reggae- und Rocksteady- Szene auf die Bühne. Am 20.09.25 könnt ihr keine geringeren als die Bands Los Billtones (Zürich), Rudi Hifi & The Toadville Rockers (Dresden) und Tighten Up (Dresden) live in der Saloppe Dresden erleben. Da es leider nur noch wenige Bands gibt die diese hervorragende Musik so authentisch, mit so viel Herzblut und Detailverliebtheit auf die Bühne bringen, solltet ihr die Chance nutzen und unbedingt dabei sein.
Mit der Organisation der Veranstaltungsreihe „time to rocksteady“ möchte die Dresdner Band „Tighten Up“ aktiv zur musikalischen und kulturellen Vielfalt Dresdens beitragen. Mit der Veranstaltungsreihe sollen sich alle die in den musikalischen Genre Ska, Rocksteady oder Reggae Zuhause fühlen angesprochen werden. Tanzschuhe und lockere Hüften sind also außerordentlich gefragt.
Bleibt dran und haltet die Augen offen wann die nächste „time to rocksteady“ Party stattfinden wird. Wer am Abend selbst nach den Bands immer noch nicht genug getanzt hat, kann nochmal so richtig zu „DJ Chris Conjahs“ loslegen. Er wird klassisch wie in den 60ern ausschließlich mit 7 inch Vinyl Platten die alten Hits auflegen. So let´s do the Reggay …

BIO „TIGHTEN UP“
Early Reggae & Rocksteady
Mit dem Jahreswechsel 2021/22 erblickt die Band Tighten Up das Licht der Welt. Schon in der ersten Januarwoche werden die ersten vier Songs im Lbum Studio Berlin aufgenommen, um möglichst schnell auf der Bühne stehen zu können. Die sieben befreundeten Musiker:innen aus Dresden und Berlin kennen sich schon seit vielen Jahren, gemeinsam waren und sind sie in den Bands Mola (Soul & Funk) und Yellow Cap (Ska & Rocksteady) aktiv.
Kay, der enthusiastische Yellow Cap Sänger, überzeugte die sechs anderen Musiker:innen von seiner Vision einer „Early Reggae & Rocksteady“ Band, die sich vorerst ausschließlich mit jamaikanischen und britischen Cover-Songs aus den 60er und 70er Jahren beschäftigt. Im Programm sind Klassiker wie Sweet and Dandy von Toots and the Maytals und Sabotage von Desmond Dekker oder Man Next Door von The Paragons, aber auch weniger bekannte Perlen wie Raindrops von den Silvertones.
Tighten Up - der Name ist nicht unbekannt in der Szene: der Song von The Untouchables & Lee “Scratch” Perry war schon Inspiration und titelgebend für den bekannten Trojan Records Sampler aus dem Jahr 1969.
Im April 2025 veröffentlichen Tighten Up ihre ersten Aufnahmen über Smith & Miller Records. In guter alter Punkrock-Manie produzierten sie zusammen mit der Band „Arte Bella And The Fellas“ eine limitierte Auflage einer Split-LP. Auf dem Vinyl-Album sind von jeder Band je 5 Songs zu hören.
Endlich ist nun Sommer und es wird Zeit, dass Tighten Up mit ihrer extrem tanzbaren und energetischen Musik überzeugen darf und mit ihr eine längst vergessene Zeit wieder erwachen lässt.

At the turn of the year 2021/22 the band Tighten Up sees the light of day. In order to play live on stage as quickly as possible the first four songs are recorded in the first week of January. The seven musician friends from Dresden and Berlin have known each other for many years. Together they were and are still active in the bands Mola (Soul & Funk) and Yellow Cap (Ska & Rocksteady).
Kay, the enthusiastic Yellow Cap singer, convinced the six other musicians of his vision of an "Early Reggae & Rocksteady" band, so far dealing exclusively with Jamaican and British cover songs from the 60s and 70s. The program includes classics like Sweet and Dandy by Toots and the Maytals and Sabotage by Desmond Dekker or Man Next Door by The Paragons, but also lesser-known real gems like Raindrops by the Silvertones.
Tighten Up - the name is not unknown to the scene: the song by The Untouchables & Lee "Scratch" Perry was already the inspiration and title for the well-known Trojan Records sampler from 1969.
In April 2025, Tighten Up released their first recordings on Smith & Miller Records. In true punk rock style, they produced a limited edition split LP with the band "Arte Bella And The Fellas." The vinyl album features five songs from each band.
The year is still young and it's about time that Tighten Up is able to convince with their extremely danceable and energetic music. Let’s revive a long forgotten time!
