Rod MacDonald was a major figure in the 1970s-90s Greenwich Village music scene, recording 21 songs in the Smithsonian collection and the first of his now 14 cds. From volunteering as a crew member on The Clearwater to appearing in clubs, concerts and festivals throughout N America, Europe and Australia, he's continued writing and performing such songs as "American Jerusalem," "A Sailor's Prayer," "For The People," and "Every Living Thing," that have also been recorded by numerous other artists. He currently lives in south Florida, where he's been named one of "Ten Greatest South Florida Folksingers Of All Time." Goldmine magazine calls his 2023 cd Rants And Romance "flush with astute observations and commentary on the current stage of politics and populism....with melodies that ring, resonate and make emphatic impressions." The All-Music Guide notes "With his pure emotive tenor and stirring, catchy tunes, MacDonald is one of the most appealing singer-songwriters to emerge in the 1980s. Add thoughtful lyrics that touch on a variety of political and social issues, and you have a remarkable artist.” He will be joined by bassist Mark Dann, who's joined Rod on 50 European tours and produced the recordings of more than 200 artists.
