About this concert
Ska fans, this one’s for you! Shotkickers is turning into a skank pit this November as two of the most exciting ska acts from either side of the border come together for one night of high-energy, horn-fuelled mayhem.
All the way from Adelaide, The Overits bring their rhythm-heavy, roots-inspired ska steeped in the sounds of 1960s Jamaica. With members hailing from across the globe and musical roots ranging from swing to punk, The Overits craft original tunes that blend soulful grooves with stomping, trad ska power. Formed in 2019, just before the pandemic as The Isolators, their name change and evolution from a cover band idea to a fully original ska force has made them one of the most unique acts in the Australian ska scene today.
Sharing the bill are Melbourne’s own Loonee Tunes – Starting in Boronia with high school friends many moons ago, Loonee Tunes are two-tone powerhouse channeling the energy of The Specials, the cheek of Bad Manners, and the soul of Dexy’s Midnight Runners. With sharp suits, sharper riffs, and a rhythm section built for dancing, Loonee Tunes deliver a sound that’s as nostalgic as it is electric. They have played the live music scene here in Melbourne for over 40 years, building a great energy, atmosphere and a great crowd.
Whether you're a long-time rudeboy or just ska-curious, this is a night of brass, bounce, and unity not to miss.

Loonee Tunes Biography
Loonee Tunes first formed in 1982. Loonee Tunes started as school friends playing off beats in a factory way out east. Their first gig was at the Aberdeen Hotel
in North Fitzroy. They had a one hour slot and being nervous they sped through the set in 1/2 hour. They all came off to a rousing reception only to be told to go
back on stage and play the entire set again!
Loonee Tunes have a wonderful history of support spots over the years and have played with Rick Wakeman, Australian Crawl, Mental As Anything, Eurogliders, Corpse Grinders and, most recently, The English Beat, Bad Manners, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, From the Jam and the Ska Nation Festival.
Loonee Tunes has a long history of which the British Soul sound is a large part. Our music is influenced by Ska, Northern Soul and British bands such as
The Style Council, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and The Specials. What is Ska? You may ask, we like to say that it is Rocksteady and Reggae on speed. lots of fun
and energetic as all hell.
Their frontman Adam, is as spontaneous as they come. You never know what he will do next but you will be entertained. Excellent vocals and lots of energy that the crowd loves. In fact, all the members are excellent, professional musicians with members coming from bands such as, Bjorn Again, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Damsel Eyes, Agents of Reverb, No Nonsense and also provide the energy to get a crowd going straight away. Their vibe is addictive and watching the crowd enjoy themselves is an absolute pleasure. Often mentioned on PBS 106.7 (Blue Juice) and Ska Nation Radio with Beefy, using positive vibes, great songs and energetic events Loonee Tunes infuse a crowd and get the venue dancing…turning spectators into die-hard fans.
Loonee Tunes remain one of the hardest working bands in Melbourne and continue to bring out their best at every show.
