One of CKUA’s favourite acts, as the band’s debut album Answer the Call landed at number 6 on the top 100 albums of 2024, Secondhand Dreamcar is also a dynamic live act comprised of nine musicians who paint outside the lines of specific genres. This cast has collectively worked on some of the finest jazz, funk, folk, soul and blues projects ever created in this province.
Last year, the band was on the receiving end of rousing standing ovations at the Edmonton Blues Festival, the Kaleido Festival, and their sold out album release bash at St. Basil’s Cultural Centre and just a year ago, this group stirred up a great bit of musical mayhem at The Yardbird Suite for two sold out nights when the band was joined by guests Marcus Trummer and Kirby Sewell.

Secondhand Dreamcar Biography
Secondhand Dreamcar is a new soul/roots/rock supergroup from Edmonton, AB. Fronted by Canadian Folk Music Award nominee Dana Wylie, the band also features Harry Gregg (Dave Babcock and the Nightkeepers) on bass, Jamie Cooper (Nightkeepers, Up and Over Trio, Obsessions Octet) on drums, Kyle Mosiuk (The Hello Darlins) and Chad Murphy (Dallas Smith) on guitar, Rooster Davis on organ, plus a horn section made up of some of Canada's best – Dave Babcock on sax, Bob Tildesley on trumpet, and Peter Filice on trombone. This group of Alberta heavies is crafting a distinct, funky, and lyrically driven sound that will give you plenty to dance about, plenty to listen to, and an abundance of soulful vibes to feed your heart.
Journalist and programmer Peter North has deemed Secondhand Dreamcar the most exciting act to come out of Edmonton since kd Lang and The Reclines. Their debut album Answer the Call will be released on October 11th, 2024, and its first single "Eight of Spades" is out now.
