About this concert
A Winged Victory for the Sullen is the soaring project by the Americans Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran. What began as a temporary collaboration in 2007 has evolved into an unbreakable bond, with four albums and countless compositions for film and theatre, including the BAFTA-winning Lion and Iris. Their cinematic ambient builds on lengthy crescendos, and plays with our expectations. They give their music all the time it needs to unfurl. Wiltzie, now living in Brussels, adds: “I’ve always had a great love of instrumental music that uses both acoustic keyboard instruments and lots of electronics.” Names such as Arvo Pärt, Brian Eno and Gavin Bryars are both points of reference and points of arrival to steer clear of.

Incredible. A brutalist venue filled with gentle souls, and every one of us was given the most glorious gift of music, theatre, soul-filling sounds and moments of utter bliss. I would recommend this to everyone. Every time I meet someone who was there, there is a moment of where we both just smile and say, wasn't it beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful experience that I will never forget.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen Biography
On May 24th 2007, in Bologna, Italy, Adam was on tour and playing with the late Mark Linkous & his beloved Sparklehorse, on what would be their final european tour. That night Adam invited good friend and colleague Francesco Donadello to see the concert. Francesco's guest this evening was none other than the composer Dustin O'Halloran. Through a strange twist of backstage conversations surrounding passport cache conundrums, and love of italian gastronomy, a curious friendship began that now has brought forth an offspring of harmonic robitussinal compositions for the world to savour. composer collaboration featuring Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie & Dustin O'Halloran http://awvfts.spinshop.com/
