About this concert
It was on a tour stop through Florence, Alabama in 2022 when Chrissi Poland decided she needed to return and make a record in Muscle Shoals. Stopping through Fame Studios to take the tour, being in the room where some of the greatest soul records were ever made, Chrissi experienced an emotional and visceral reaction. “I could feel the vibrations of Aretha, and Etta in the room. I could feel the magic in the Wurlitzer that Spooner Oldham played when he created the famed opening riff to Never Loved A Man….So many of these songs shaped my brain as a singer, a writer. Above all, the feeling is what I connect to most deeply. Soul music isn’t just a genre, but more so an experience of human emotion. It demands that you be raw, real and connected if you’re going to do it. That’s why I’ve always been called to it.”
After recording a full album of music that celebrates the songs and soul recorded in Muscles Shoals, AL in the late 60’s to early 70’s, Chrissi is bringing the project to New York City for the first time on Nov 11th, 2025. With proudcer/drummer Jay Tooke on board for the live show, the band will showcase much of the music appearing on the forthcoming album Forever Muscle Shoals. Chrissi has brought her vocal power and interpretation to songs from Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Cher, Bob Dylan, and more. All artists that looked to capture that “Muscle Shoals Sound”, Chrissi returned to the Shoals to honor that tradition and to shine a light on a new era of recording that’s happening in this sacred geographical corner of American music.

With production by Jay Tooke (the Steel Woods) and Craig Alvin (Kasey Musgraves) and a backing band featuring Muscle Shoals legends Kelvin Holly (FAME Gang, Little Richard), Jimbo Hart (Jason Isbell), as well as some surprise guest vocalists, this collection of classic tunes is sure to delight music lovers around the world.
Acclaimed vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Chrissi Poland has toured throughout the world and has performed on stage, television, and in the studio with a long list artists and legends including Hozier, Lady Gaga, Bette Midler, Nile Rodgers, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Michael Bolton, Sting, Moby, Scissor Sisters, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Toto, Sheryl Crow, Michael McDonald, Dave Matthews, and the legendary Stax "Soul Man" Sam Moore (formerly of Sam & Dave).
