Josee Koning Biography

Dutch singer Josee Koning is Holland’s leading lady in Brazilian music.
She has an international career working with the best musicians from Brasil: Ivan Lins, Dori Caymmi, João Bosco.
Doce Presença her new album is the result of many years of friendship with Ivan Lins. Release April ’24. During a walk on the beach in May ’22 Josee told Ivan she wanted to record another Brazilian album. Ivan immediately responded he’d love to produce that record!
The first seed for the friendship between Josee and Ivan was planted in July 1978. A mutual friend invited Josee to a concert of Ivan in Rio de Janeiro. They met after the show and Josee bought his LP Nos Dias de Hoje, which Ivan cordially signed ‘with a warm embrace from your friend Ivan Lins'.
February 14, 2024 the first single was released ‘Plus fort que nous’. A duet from the movie ‘Un homme et une femme’ (1966).
The album contains 12 songs and a live recording of the song Doce Presença. Ivan: our album is delicate, intimate, melodic, soft, has great lyrics and a bossanova atmosphere.
Josee always had a passion for Brazilian music. She was the co-founder of the legendary Brazilian fusion group Batida in 1980. Josee’s cooperation with Brazilian musicians started off in 1995 with her first solo-album Tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim, recorded in Los Angeles, produced and arranged by Brazilian Dori Caymmi.
