Ronny Aagren Biography

Ronny Aagren was born in November 1971, and comes from Jessheim, Norway. Ronny began his music career in the early 80s, and has toured nationally and abroad in various bands for 30 years, and decided to go solo in 2016.

It all started at home in the living room, where his mother often sang and played guitar for her son who was fascinated by how his mother moved her fingers over the strings of the guitar. Ronny bought his first guitars at the age of 14, including a black Ibanez Les Paul, which he still plays slide on to this day.
Inspired by the early Delta blues artists such as Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, as well as BB King, Howlin' Wolf, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ry Cooder and many more, he has over the years created his own distinct expression in his guitar playing.

He is primarily known for being an outstanding slide guitarist and is considered by many today to be one of the country's foremost blues guitarists.
Ronny Aagren is both a songwriter and composer. Most of the material he writes about is taken from his own life and experiences, which gives the audience a feeling of genuine communication, closeness and joy of playing.
The band Ronny Aagren & His Blues Gumbo was put together in March 2016 and had its debut concert at the Color Line Blues Cruise in April 2016. This was the start of what would prove to be a real kick start for the newly formed band. 2017 turned out to be a successful year with many concerts and an album release.
The album “Close to You”, received great attention and airtime on radio at home and abroad, and a number of good reviews in Norway, the USA, Australia, England, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Ronny Aagren was also selected to represent Norway and the Norwegian Blues Union (NBU) in “The International Blues Challenge 2019”, which took place in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2021, Ronny and the band chose to continue under the name Ronny Aagren. In December the same year, the artist released the single “It’s You”, which is also included on the long-awaited second album “Changes” which was released on May 20th, 2022. The album has already received radio airplay in several parts of the world, and in 2022 had been played in 88 countries.

Ronny has toured the USA with J.T. Lauritsen and The Buckshot Hunters both at IBC 2017, concerts in Florida 2019 with Terry Hank who is a well-known saxophonist on the American scene.
Ronny was also one of the artists at The Sandy Beaches Cruise XXV in 2019, where he also shared the stage with Kim Wilson, who most people know from The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
On December 17th, 2021, the artist released the single "It's You" as a teaser for the long-awaited second album "Changes", which was released on October 28th, 2022. The album has already had radio airplay in several parts of the world. The single "Memories" was released on May 4th, 2023. "Memories" is a true Delta Blues song, which Ronny recorded alone while playing slide on his Dobro guitar. Then came “Early In The Morning” on December 8th, “High and Low” on January 12th, 2024 and “Someday Baby” was released on February 16th, 2024. His first single in 2025 “Hell to Come”was released April 4th.
