About this concert
Singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant brings her Autumn Acoustic Tour to The Barns for an intimate, one night only performance. The former lead vocalist and lyricist of 10,000 Maniacs (“These Are The Days,” “Like the Weather”) found solo success with her breakthrough albums Tigerlily (1995) and Ophelia (1998). After a nine-year hiatus from releasing new music, she returned with Keep Your Courage (2023), that Mojo praised as “her most beautiful [material] in decades.” Through it all, she’s best described as “an artist who has never compromised, but instead evolved with integrity, thought, and meaning” (Daily Telegraph).
Merchant is accompanied by her principal guitarist Erik Della Penna, a Tony-nominated composer and lyricist (Dead Outlaw) with credits on over 60 rock, pop, and Americana albums.

The Natalie Merchant concert was absolutely fabulous! The setting, the band (mini orchestra) and back up singers were great. But I can't say enough about how wonderful Natalie sounded, how her songs and her being are always so moving! The audience was totally in sync with her performance. What a treat!

Natalie Merchant Biography
Natalie Anne O'Shea Merchant (born October 26, 1963 in Jamestown, New York, U.S.) is a professional musician. She co-founded and fronted the band 10,000 Maniacs in 1981, but left the band in 1993 and started a successful solo career. Merchant plays the piano, produces and writes many of her songs.
Her debut solo album Tigerlily (1995) had three top-40 singles: 'Carnival', 'Jealousy' and 'Wonder'. This was followed in 1998 with her second solo album Ophelia, and her third in 2001 with Motherland.
Merchant has sung alongside Tracy Chapman, Michael Stipe, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel. She has also collaborated with Billy Bragg a number of times, including the 1998 album Mermaid Avenue. Like Bragg, her work touches on social and political themes; she has been active in promoting a number of campaigning issues in both her songs and through the causes to which she lends her name.
