Abdoujaparov Biography
Formed in 1998 after the breakup of Carter USM, Abdoujaparov are named after Tour De France cyclist Djamolidine Abdoujaparov. Abdoujaparov's musical foundations are the joyous and shambolic influences of 1977 punk rock, but there is so much more than that under the covers.
Eight EPs, four singles and five albums DJAMOLIDINE (1999), AIR ODEON DISCO PUB (2002), CYCLE RIOT HISTORY GANG (2007), SEASIDE ARCADE BINGO PATROL (2014) and LIVE ACTION PLANET NOISE (2020) have been released on Spinach Records.
The band has toured worldwide, racking up over 600 gigs, from tiny clubs to big festivals.
In 2018 they celebrated their 20th anniversary with a hugely successful and sold out gig at London's 100 Club.
2020 saw the release of two limited release lock-down singles We're All Gonna Die and A Trip Of A Lifetime. Both sold out within 24 hours.
The sixth album RACE HOME GROW LOVE was released in the autumn 2021 to a very good response from all and sundry.
2022 saw the 20th Anniversary of our first studio album Air Odeon Disco Pub and we celebrated once again at the 100 Club, playing the album in it’s entirety for the first time.
2024 has been a busy one with gigs all over the uk. Finishing up with Shiiine On 2024 where we played to 1500 enthusiastic gig goers.
After our very enjoyable Spring Sprint Tour we have been taking it a bit easy, although our 3 gig weekend recently was a good one. We took in Nah Then and Landed festivals then did a benefit gig for Palestinian aid in St Albans.
We have a few more gigs in September and November before wrapping up our 2025.
At this point I have no idea what 2026 will bring. It is in the lap of the gods.
