About this concert
City Winery Philadelphia presents Chante Moore Bringing The Holidays Back To You live on Friday, Nov 28th and Saturday Nov 29th at 7:30pm.
With her crystal clear 5 octave range, her smooth, rich tone, and her ability to convey a wide swath of emotions with remarkable phrasing, Chanté Moore is likely a favorite singer of your favorite singer. The daughter of a minister, Moore grew up on gospel music and albums by George Duke and Lee Ritenour and began her songwriting journey by writing lyrics to their music. In the middle of her teenage years, Chanté decided that she was going to concentrate her efforts on becoming a professional singer after she gave an inspired performance in a high school rendition of The Wiz…and after she experienced her first standing ovation when she sang “Home”. In the ensuing years, she sang with bands at cocktail bars and at the age of 22, was discovered by legendary producer and executive Louil Silas who signed her to Silas Records, a subsidiary of MCA Records. Her first appearance on the Billboard Chart was in advance of her own project when she was featured on El DeBarge’s top 15 single, “You Know What I Like”. In 1992, Moore released her classic debut album, “Precious” produced in part by George Duke. Propelled by the singles “Love’s Taken Over” and “It’s Alright” in addition to album cuts and fan favorites like “As If We Never Met”, the album was RIAA certified Gold. About “Precious”, Rolling Stone Magazine wrote, “Moore explores the sweet entanglements of contemporary love with a supple soprano that floats over and into songs. Moore's superb singing and writing will unquestionably win her a satisfied audience.”

Chante did a fabulous job! Her voice is still as amazing as it was when I fell in love with her music in the ‘90’s!

Chanté Moore Biography
Born to a gospel minister, she grew up singing in the church and was heavily influenced by the music of George Duke and Lee Ritenour. While in high school, she decided to make a career of singing. She was a successful beauty pageant contestant and model when she was discovered by the late Louil Silas at 22, a record executive who had started his own label, Silas Records, then distributed by MCA. Moore has recorded several hit records, including "Love's Taken Over", "Alright", "I'm What You Need", "Old School Lovin", and "Free" (a cover of a Deniece Williams song that showcases her effortless flip into whistle register by jumping an octave higher than the song's original top note). Moore was also featured on the soundtrack of Waiting To Exhale in 1995 with the song "Wey U," which also shows off her ability to reach the whistle register. Once married to Kadeem Hardison, she is currently married to Kenny Lattimore. The two are currently a duet act on Jive Records, where they remade Minnie Riperton and Peabo Bryson's 70's soul hit "Here We Go" on their album, Things That Lovers Do. It is interesting to note that Chanté is still signed as a catalog artist with MCA.
In 2000, Moore earned a Soul Train Music Awards nomination, alongside Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, for "Single of the Year, Female" [1] for her Billboard No. 2 R&B / No. 10 Pop hit "Chante's Got a Man". However, she lost the award to Lauryn Hill. The single was also certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 copies in America. In 2002, she won a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo for "Contagious" featuring The Isley Brothers. She also appeared on the hit UPN show Girlfriends, singing Minnie Riperton's Lovin' You. In 2002, Moore sang on Kenny G's single "One More Time," which registered on the Smooth Jazz and Adult Contemporary singles charts.
In 2006 Asian singer Hyori remade Moore's single "Straight Up", it became a top ten hit in Korea. [2] Additionally, in 2006 it was confirmed by Peak Records executive and founder that Chante Moore has signed a record deal with the independent label. She has begun recording songs for a new album scheduled for release in early 2007.
