Tobias Meinhart is an award-winning saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in a small town in rural Bavaria, Germany, Tobias Meinhart has spent the last 15 years carving out a career in the international jazz scene. A regular performer at iconic venues like the Blue Note, Smalls, and Birdland, Tobias has headlined sold-out shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center and appeared at prestigious festivals, including Winter Jazzfest in NYC and the Jarasum Jazz Festival in Korea. He is an ECHO (German Grammy) nominee, winner of the Getxo Jazz Competition, and his album “Berlin People” made it to first round of the Grammys. JazzThing calls Tobias: “Germany’s biggest talent on the saxophone”. Downbeat Magazine just listed his latest album “The Painter” as one of the BEST ALBUMS of 2022.

Tobias Meinhart Biography
Tobias Meinhart is a saxophonist based out of Brooklyn, NY. In addition to working steadily as a freelance player throughout New York City, Tobias leads his own quintet and is a member of the composers’ collective Brooklyn Aliens. In 2016 he was nominated for an ECHO-Award as ‘Newcomer of the Year’.
Born in Regensburg, Bavaria, Tobias began his musical life as a drummer before switching to saxophone at age thirteen.
Shortly after Graduation, Tobias moved to New York City and quickly became immersed in the city’s highly competitive music scene. He maintains a presence in Europe, touring internationally and teaching at the University of Regensburg, while still being in demand in New York City. He has a monthly engagement at The Bar Next Door and has been a featured performer at the Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland and the Jazzgallery, among many other renowned venues in the city.
Tobias currently has four albums out under his own name. His quintet’s new release, “Silent Dreamer”, will be released in 2017 on the Munich label ENJA Records and features the likes of Ingrid Jensen, Philip Donkin, Yago Vazquez and Jesse Simpson.
