About this concert
Luke Sweeney’s transformation from trouble-making troubadour to profound storyteller is marked by four critically acclaimed albums and an EP of compositions that lean on “humor and irreverence—both calling cards of Sweeney's songwriting” (Portland Mercury), as well as collaborations with the likes of Tim Cohen and Healing Potpourri. The self-dubbed ‘Calm Poseur’ seamlessly traverses genres with “a power pop punch to gain the envy of Alex Chilton, Emmit Rhodes, Eric Carmen and everyone in-between and thereafter” (Week in Pop). His 2022 album RISHI is “a mesmerizing blend of future jazz and George Harrison’s Indian influences, celebrating the healing power of music” (SF Chronicle). Luke Sweeney’s continued evolution, both as an artist and a person, signals a profound commitment to sonic exploration and soul-baring storytelling that few artists today can match. His next release ‘Novel Tea’ is due out August 29th via Future Gods, with a series of tours to follow.

Luke is a phenomenal musical artist and insightful human. His songs spring from a deep creative spirit, refined by experience, compassion, humor and wisdom. But a 20 minute show is much too short

Luke Sweeney Biography
Dubbed “classic rock’s piercingly bright diamond in the rough” (BandsInTown News), Luke Sweeney's 4th studio album ‘Rishi’ is described in the SF Chronicle as “an album filled with shades of future jazz melded with tinges of George Harrison’s Indian escapades" - but his live set integrates even more incarnations of the self-proclaimed 'Calm Poseur'. Unhinged from traditional genres, the multi-instrumentalist brings his basketball onstage and rolls out original psychedelic pop, garage, freak folk and classic rock “in a manner that summons the peccadilloes of eccentrics like Todd Rundgren and Stephen Malkmus” (Austin Chronicle). In his company, expect steady helpings of "humor and irreverence—both calling cards of Sweeney's songwriting" (Portland Mercury).
