Kanemo89 Biography
Kanemo89 – In the Artist's Words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Growing up in the Dominican Republic, I was surrounded by the rhythms of bachata and merengue. But what really shaped my sound was the Panamanian style influenced by Jamaican reggae — the foundation of what later became Latin Urban music. In the early 2000s, this sound started gaining momentum, especially as Puerto Rico adapted and evolved it into reggaetón. That fusion of cultures and sounds sparked something in me.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why?
50 Cent – Get Rich or Die Tryin’
This album inspired me from the start. 50 Cent’s style, storytelling, and confidence showed me the power of authenticity and hustle in music.
Aventura – K.O.B. Live
Aventura and Romeo Santos elevated bachata to the world stage. Their music connected with my roots and proved that Dominican rhythms could cross borders.
Kanemo89 – Dembow El Nuevo Triángulo
This project represents my evolution. Dembow was my entry point into music, and this album is the product of years of passion, learning, and growth.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special.
One song that means a lot to me is "Bonus Track – Entren To" (feat. Jafeth, Alex, Abrahan & Gerson). It was the first song I recorded and composed alongside my childhood friends. After the chorus (from 0:14 to 0:40), I come in with the first verse (0:40 to 0:55), and to this day, it still feels powerful. We made that track back in 2005 — it’s a time capsule of where it all began.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
One of the most unforgettable moments was performing for the first time at my city’s festival in 2009. I was just a kid, but stepping on that stage in front of so many people — including friends and neighbors — made me realize this is what I was meant to do.
