True Gloom Biography
TRUE GLOOM is a hardcore punk band from Hamburg.
Following the release of their demo tape in 2024, TRUE GLOOM took a year to hone their debut LP. And what a huge step this record has become! Following the straight-up hardcore of the demo, they completely reworked their sound: A complex web of details unfolds on a simple framework spanning the triangle between Australian-influenced wrecking ball rock 'n' roll, Swedish 90s hardcore, and New Orleans sludge: Percussion elements, keyboards, strings, glockenspiel, trumpet... oops, that sounds pretty much like overcooked nonsense, doesn't it? But don't worry: In the end, TRUE GLOOM's music remains a white-hot lump of hardcore punk—but with a love for classic outlaw rock 'n' roll of the 70s and 80s and the courage to embrace strange ideas. Mullet, beercan, worn-out AC/DC T-shirt, guitar solo: The framework. But then, there's so much more – you just have to listen closely. Content-wise, the new songs move somewhere in the wide zone between extended middle fingers and self-care in an increasingly hostile environment..
