About this concert
free! Remi Goode: Remi Goode is a trained classical guitarist and choral singer turned alternative folk singer-songwriter. In a continual search for the truth, her lyrics are filled with paradoxes, puzzles, and multiple perspectives, with Remi attempting to rid herself of black-and-white thinking and, instead, embrace the grey areas in her life. Things I've Said Before, the debut album from Remi Goode due September 26, is an introduction to the indie-folk artist who straddles the borders between different worlds. A nylon-string guitarist nodding to the classical training and contemporary influences of her past while pushing toward a wider sound, she creates her own version of modern-day American roots music: one that's intimate one minute and cinematic the next, making room for folky bedroom recordings, full-band studio performances, and all points in between. Madeleine Kelson: Madeleine Kelson is a Nashville based Americana artist. She pulls from a rich tradition of Folk, Country, and Americana, challenging its boundaries as a queer artist to represent the modern world. Madeleine spent her high school years in Chicago band, The Kelson Twins, playing venues including House of Blues and Thalia Hall, and landing a top Daytrotter Session with Paste Magazine. She later moved to Music City to pursue a solo career. Inspired by artists like Patty Griffin, Jason Isbell, andBrandi Carlile, her dynamic and down-to-earth storytelling and rich vocals are part of why NPR named her one 10 Nashville artists on the rise. Once in Nashville, Madeleine won the 2017 International Bluegrass MusicAssociation’s (IBMA) Songwriter Showcase, and in 2018 released her acclaimed solo debut Siren, an introspective five-song EP with clean, melodic vocals backed by elegant countermelodies on violin. Praised by press for its genre-defying, sparse style and emotional richness, Siren earned Kelson comparisons to both Amos Lee and Gillian Welch. In 2022, Madeleine released her debut, self-produced album, While I Was Away, on Olivia Records. Since its release she has gained praise from No Depression, been featured multiple times in NPR, and was a finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition. Her queer country anthem, The Way I Do, became a viral TikTok hit with over 1.7 million views. Madeleine has been featured on Spotify editorial playlists including Queer as Folk, Emerging Americana, and Fresh Finds Folk. Her new EP, Where the Spirit Meets the Muscle, was released in February 2024.

Remi Goode Biography

Remi Goode is a trained classical guitarist and choral singer turned alternative folk/pop singer-songwriter. When she first decided to put her voice and guitar together and write original music, she quickly developed a style that highlights her careful classical sensibilities, pure vocal quality, and the distinctive sound of a nylon-string guitar. With an affinity for small arrangements and modest production, Remi’s highest priority is lyricism. She writes with blunt honesty and introspection, searching for the root of the dynamics within a relationship or a deeper understanding of her own self-conception.
From an early age, Remi was greatly influenced by a handful of folk and alternative artists of the 80’s and 2000’s, such as Suzanne Vega, Regina Spektor, and Kathleen Edwards. For the last ten years, she’s been collaborating with childhood friend and singer-songwriter, Gabe Lehrer. Together, they arrange and perform intricate duos for two guitars and voices that showcase their intuitive musical understanding. In 2023, they toured the west coast as a duo before moving to Nashville.
Remi is preparing for the release of her debut full-length album in the summer of 2025. Balancing small, intimate, folk-forward tracks with full-band arrangements that push into new stylistic territories—half bedroom recordings years in the making and half live-capture studio recordings—Remi’s debut album will showcase her full range as an artist.
