Sean Griffin Biography
Sean Griffin is a veteran Northeast rocker who has fronted the Irish punk band The Ruffians for 25 years. However, the Danbury, CT native's musical journey began years earlier. After being inspired by his hometown's vibrant music scene, he attended the Conservatory of Music at the SUNY Purchase.
On the road with The Ruffians, Sean Griffin has played over 2000 shows throughout the Northeast. He has shared the stage with Black 47, The Popes, Enter the Haggis, Gaelic Storm, and has been featured in esteemed publications like the Irish Echo, Irish Voice, The Chicago Sun times, and the New York Daily News.
Sean Griffin recorded his solo debut at Old Soul Studios in Catskill, New York, with Grammy award-winning producer Kenny Siegel and audio engineer Mathew Cullen, and then had the album mixed by Paul Kolderie and mastered by Greg Calbi. This year he will be hitting the road to bring the record to a wider audience. Plans are in the works for national and international shows and festivals.
The album promises a rollicking, punk-infused, bar-brawl of a good time. Sean and his amazing band Griffin are joined by virtuosic special guests. With a wild mix of traditional acoustic Irish instruments, and a Punk rock ensemble with their amps cranked to eleven, the crew lays down surf-punk jams, boozy Irish laments, and general garage-rock mayhem. It’s a great time for fans of smart, and sometimes decadent rock & roll.
