Lips of Strangers Biography

Fresh off of their 2025 radio feature on 90.7 WFUV's NY Slice program, and their packed debut live performance in Montclair, NJ, LIPS OF STRANGERS explodes into the world (well, mainly New Jersey) as they embark on exploring the indie-pop scene of the tri-state area.

Singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and co-producer Spencer Miles helms the live incarnation of the indie dream-pop act on vocals and guitar. Joining Miles on stage are seasoned veterans of indie pop who have toured with acts such as Hot Chip, French Horn Rebellion, Ra Ra Riot, and Pink Flamingo Rhythm Review, notably female vocalist and keyboardist Kate Victor, who elevates the live show to a new stratosphere with lush, vibrant harmonies, bringing to life a sound described by Apollo's Harp as "shoegaze textures splattered across dream pop brilliance, glassy vocals, groovy rhythms, and surreal guitar flows."

Miles' recent musical endeavors span from founding, fronting, and producing the band Space Fight ("a dazzling meld of indie pop" - Under The Radar Magazine), joining Ra Ra Riot as a touring member (2019-current), and co-producing Paultra Violet's 2023 debut LP ("80's new wave soundtracks blended with 90's avant pop punk" - American Pancake). Miles is continually asking “what’s next,” and after Space Fight's 2024 EP Hyperspeed, once again that question arose.

Next was working on 3 songs alone, until the tunes called for a co-producer to flesh them out further. A seemingly perfect fit materialized with the signing on of co-producer, multi-instrumentalist and mixing engineer Brian Squillace (Odd Relics, LANNDS). They began to tread new ground away from previous Space Fight territory, and Lips of Strangers was born.

Ra Ra Riot drummer Kenny Bernard was brought on board to breathe a living pulse into the music, along with Andrew Maury (known for his producing and mixing work for the likes of Shawn Mendes, Lizzo, Post Malone) to tackle the drum engineering and finally mastering.

Three debut singles by Lips of Strangers (Motion, Tokyo, Breathing) dropped in the fall of 2024, and have been featured on numerous blogs and radio stations, most notably 90.7 WFUV in New York City, and as part of a full-length feature and interview with 105.9 WPFS (available below).

Be on the lookout for new singles featuring the new lineup in 2025.
