About this concert
Stiff Gins, featuring Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta woman Kaleena Briggs and Yuwaalaraay woman Nardi Simpson, form a powerful musical duo. Their fourth studio album "Crossroads" marks the 25-year career point for Australia's longest-performing all-female First Nations band. It also reaffirms the band's status as Matriarchal pioneers in the Australian Blak music scene. Produced by Syd Green (Casey Chambers, 19Twenty) “Crossroads” combines Stiff Gins signature blend of folk, roots, and First Nations language and culture with newfound depths of lyrical storytelling, intricate harmony and rich layers of instrumentation. The result is a sonic landscape resonating with both introspection and resilience, all forged against a political backdrop that advocates for increased representation and recognition of First Nations people in Australia. “Crossroads” is a celebration of Stiff Gins role as cultural custodians of Australian musical environment. Supported by Palawa singer-songwriter, Kaytlyn Johnson. Before having released any music, Kaytlyn had already performed with GRAMMY® award winning artist Lucky Oceans and opened for Australian pop-icon Thelma Plum. Set for a break-out year in Naarm, Kaytlyn will release her debut EP in 2025, pulling inspiration from Pop, Indie and Rock genres whilst keeping intricate lyrics and clever songwriting at the forefront of her sound. Kaytlyn Johnson Biography

Kaytlyn Johnson is an up-and-coming Palawa artist. Now Naarm based, Kaytlyn blurs the lines between Pop, Indie and Rock whilst keeping intricate lyrics at the forefront of her sound. Before having released any music, Kaytlyn has already opened for Aus pop-icon Thelma Plum and has performed with GRAMMY® award winning artist Lucky Oceans.

Kaytlyn has been taken under the wing of Kate Miller-Heidke and APRA AMCOS through various mentorship programs and is now ready to cement her own position in the Australian Music scene with her debut single, Sunburn.

Sunburn takes listeners on a journey through the frustrations of a long distance relationship. She makes the most of her bold attitude in this track and drives home her pop-rock influences such as Olivia Rodrigo and Short Stack. In December, and supported by Creative Australia, she will embark on her first tour across her home state of Tasmania to promote her first release.
