About this concert
An Acoustic + Electric Concert Celebrating The Music of Neil Young
DC-based band Jackie and The Treehorns will head up this jam-packed tribute concert to legendary iconoclast Neil Young. From Neil's work with Buffalo Springfield and CSNY to his raucous feedback entrenched garage rock heyday(s) with Crazy Horse, you can expect to hear "the hits" as well as some of his deeper cuts.
The show will kick off with solo acoustic tunes and slowly transition into the rootsier side of Neil's early 70's work before fulling plugging in and kicking out the jams Crazy Horse style. From "Sugar Mountain" and "Old Man" to "Cinnamon Girl" and "Rockin In the Free World" casual to hardcore Neil fans will not leave disappointed.
"Singer/songwriter Neil Young is sometimes visionary, sometimes flaky, sometimes both at once, but he has never been boring. Indeed, Neil Young has weathered runs of critical and popular ambivalence only to be vindicated by being periodically "rediscovered" by young musicians and fans. He has maintained a large following since the early '70s with music in three basic styles — solo acoustic ballads, sweet country rock, and lumbering garage rock (with some experimental music side trips), all topped by his high voice — and he veers from one to another in unpredictable phases. His subject matter also shifts from personal confessions to allusive stories to bouncy throwaways. A dedicated primitivist, Young is constantly proving that simplicity is not always simple."

Jackie and the Treehorns Biography
Rooted in the basic tenets of rock, Jackie and The Treehorns create music from just outside the nation’s capital in Alexandria, VA and just outside the mainstream. Formed in 2009 and fronted by Steven Rubin under the guise of an altered ego (Jackie) and his band (The Treehorns) the group fight to keep the flames of the rock and/or roll fire lit with inspired original inventiveness.
The band has been described as creating full-throttle music with a fluidity of sounds atop a smooth veneer that is wildly interesting and unpredictable as well as playing super-catchy, pumped-up indie rock with addictively clever rhythms and subtle, smiling, muscular menace.
"Moody midtempo rock with layered vocals and a sophisticated sonic palette."
- Mark Jenkins of the Washington Post
The bands most recent releases, Go Get Your Ghosts (2023), singles Made You Run (2021) and Hidden Cameras (2020) and It’s Never Too Late (2019), were recorded at Ivakota Studios in Washington, DC with Ben Green. For their previous releases, The J. Album (2018), singles Writer and A World Gone Mad (2017), EP RU4REAL? (2016), and Do You Mind If I Wear A Clown Mask? (2015) the band worked with legendary engineer Don Zientara at the famed Inner Ear Studio in Arlington, VA.
