Kimberly Hawkey is a singer, dreamer, lyricist and song revivalist based in lower New York State. Floating between New York City, the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains, Kimberly chooses American Song to spread light, love and connection to the wider world. She paints a time-defying soundscape using her crystal-clear voice across familiar and original melodies; at times soaring and whimsical; at times brassy and witty - but rarely without an element of surprise. ELVANELLE is a time-traveling collective founded by award-winning jazz vocalist and instrumentalist Kimberly Hawkey. Kimberly and her band celebrate the ever-changing idioms of American popular music, drawing from the beloved songs and stories of the past. The Elvanelle concept was born during a successfully crowdfunded campaign for Kimberly’s debut vocal album. “Elvanelle & The Escape Act” LP features a 6-piece modern jazz band plus a supporting string quartet, woodwinds, percussion and brass, to evoke a classic Hollywood sound. The daring reinterpretations by a driving rhythm section, lead horns, and soaring vocals propel the 100-year-old tradition into a new age.
