About this concert
Kick off Pride weekend at Wildchoir’s 2nd annual Vocal Liberation to experience the magic and healing power of singing in community! Together we’re explore how to unlock our voice for healing and liberation. Through vibration, song, and harmony we will get to embody strength and love through community connection. We’ll lead participants through a variety of songs of different genres. We’ll bring the music, you bring your voice - all levels of experience are welcome. This will not be a traditional concert, but a participatory experience to co-create a community sound bath. Every body and every being is an instrument. Special guest Inertia Dewitt will be opening the show! Event Info: When: Thursday June 26th - Doors at 6pm, Start at 6:30pm Where: Montclair Presbyterian Church - 5701 Thornhill Dr, Oakland, CA 94611 Parking: There is a small parking lot that we’ll reserve for people with accessibility needs who need to park closer to the venue. Otherwise there is a good amount of street parking in the neighborhood. COVID-19 and Masks: Masks are highly encouraged given the increased exchange of air from singing. Depending on COVID-19 transmission rates around the time of the event we may require masks for this event (we will announce that to ticket holders). A portion of proceeds will be donated to Positive Images - a community center that provides mental health support, advocacy and education to the North Bay’s LGBTQIA+ population, with an emphasis on identities and individuals at the margins – including transgender and nonbinary individuals, LGBTQIA+ people of color, Latine families, neurodivergent people, and disabled people. Come love up on community with us! Check out their website here. Accessibility: The church is ADA compliant. ADA compliant restrooms avaialble. There is a driveway right next to the walkway to enter courtyard/sanctuary. Cars can pull in there for ease of access to the facility for those with mobility aids. This driveway is for dropoffs only — cars need to vacate the space for others’ use. Another option is to pull into the gas station just north east of the church to drop people off, then it’s a short distance to the sanctuary. There are three ticket pricing options in an effort to make our events more accessible. $20 - Low-income ticket $30 - General admission $40 - Pay it forward (Support someone else in attending this event and allow us to donate more to our selected orgs) Note: No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Wildchoir Biography

Wildchoir was born to sing the music for the revolution. Based in Oakland, California, they are a diverse group of vocalists, artists, activists, educators, healers, and community organizers who join together in big harmony. They celebrate the confluence of their many cultures & identities, including african-american, latinx, asian-american, native american, middle-eastern, immigrant, jewish, & queer. Their music illuminates the joy, pain, and beauty of what it means to be human in this time of systemic transformation.

They have performed with grammy-award winning and nationally-acclaimed artists for social change including Esperanza Spalding, Rising Appalachia, Climbing Poetree & MaMuse. They have shared the stage with progressive heroes of our time, such as Bernie Sanders, Ericka Huggins, Joanna Macy, and Fania Davis. Their music has inspired thousands at marches, conferences and festivals across California, most recently at Bioneers, Lightning in a Bottle, Institute for Noetic Sciences, the North America Permaculture Convergence, the Women's March, & the Rise for Climate March.

Wildchoir originated as “Thrive Choir”, and spent its first years as the musical voice of Thrive East Bay and the global Thrive Network. Thrive is a community and movement devoted to love in action by building equitable systems where we can flourish as individuals, as communities, and as a planet. Wildchoir is forever grateful to the Thrive Network for their support and collaboration.
