Canyon. Biography
Canyon’s journey into songwriting began early. Shortly after her birth, her mother renamed her from Emma to Canyon, inspired by the lyrics “crystal canyons” in Neil Young’s Thrasher—a choice that proved prophetic. By 3rd grade, Canyon was taking classical guitar lessons, immersed in pop radio and her mom’s cassettes while dreaming of performing on her own stage.
As time passed, Canyon’s indie folk roots evolved. Her passion for pop anthems and strong hooks expanded her sound, making it more modern and wide-reaching. Now a mother, she draws from life’s ups and downs—the messy, glorious moments—to create music that resonates deeply and aims straight for the heart. After a hiatus to focus on family, Canyon has teamed up with producer Rob Griffith (Bronze Radio Return) for her upcoming album, Just Wait, set to release summer of 2025. She’s not just writing songs; she’s crafting the soundtrack of modern motherhood, exploring meaning as a millennial, and reflecting the universal human experience with a unique blend of despair and stubborn optimism.
