Jules! Biography

Jules (they/them) is an esteemed children’s artist renowned for heartfelt original compositions and inclusive messaging. With a passion for teaching valuable life lessons, Jules writes music that conveys messages of empathy, self-regulation, intersectionality, and acceptance, inspiring young listeners to embrace diversity and kindness.

Jules has appeared on popular YouTube channels such as Ms. Rachel, Small Legacies, and Laurie Berkner and has been a musical collaborator of Laurie’s. Often seen by their side and featured in their songs is a charismatic puppet companion Poppy (she/her), who always has something to say and questions to ask. Jules’ world is filled with comedic interludes, multiple characters and voices, interactive dialogue, and eclectic musical themes. Jules’ goal is to remind children they are loved, no matter what.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in songwriting, Jules has been playing music and writing songs since age five. Their earliest musical influences were artists their parents listened to, like Carole King and James Taylor, and, of course, favorite kids’ TV shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Sesame Street, Arthur, and Hey Arnold! Eventually, Jules developed their own taste through the world of pop rock and pop punk, enjoying Blink-182, Alanis Morissette, and similar bands in middle school and falling in love with Queen and Regina Spektor in high school. Some of their current favorite artists are Adrianne Lenker, Brandi Carlile, Frank Ocean, and Hermanos Gutiérrez.

Jules is very involved in their community and the causes in which they believe, showing up at protests and trying to amplify the voices and messages of others on important topics that impact our world. They have done fundraising for The Trevor Project and have written on intersectionality for the non-profit Zero to Three. They also love being out in nature, hanging out with their dog River, cooking for friends, and dancing!
