About this concert
In the organizer's words:
Unsolicited application without commission: Dear Sir or Madam, we, the Kulturarena Jena, would like to apply on behalf of Sharon Wilhelmina Gerarda Kovacs for the title music of the new James Bond film. A 007 movie without a legendary soundtrack simply doesn't work. So while you are still struggling with the protracted casting of the new Bond actor and the year of release is still written in the stars, you could get down to business early with the music.
We would like to convince you of Kovac's special suitability: the Dutch singer's music captivates with its mysterious depth, sophisticated elegance and combines both strength and vulnerability in a dark and raw sound. This wicked attraction can be felt in every one of her songs, accompanied by an almost carefree form of melancholy. As a taster, we recommend her debut single "My Love", which can be found on her first album Shades of Black and enjoys great popularity worldwide. After listening to the second album Cheap Smell, you should definitely give your attention to the third and latest album: Child Of Sin , which was partly created in prominent collaborations. The sound is characterized above all by well-constructed arrangements and a voice that can certainly keep up with that of Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone or Shirley Bassey.
Of course, a few references are also a must: More than sixty million YouTube views, heaps of awards, top positions in all chart lists and high-profile appearances at festivals such as Rock am Ring should speak for themselves. To see the 33-year-old singer live for yourself, we cordially invite you to the concert at the Kulturarena on July 11! The raw sound and the moving story of Kovacs will cause a stir and make you listen. With all this depth, it is of course questionable how well such expressive music actually fits in with an action movie. It would certainly be an upgrade. But you'd have to ask the artist herself.

Kovacs Biography
Sharon Kovacs is an enigmatic phenomenon. Emerging from the Netherlands, she has forged her own unique path through life’s devious twists and tangles, and entranced the globe with her wicked allure. The Bond-like tango noir of her 2013 EP ‘My Love’, partly recorded in Cuba, was an instant European hit, even reaching Number One in Greece, and in 2015 her debut album ‘Shades Of Black’ charted in 36 countries, making the Top Ten in Germany and hitting Number One in her Dutch homeland.
Sixty million YouTube views, a clutch of awards and high-profile sets at major festivals as Rock am Ring later, Kovacs’ dark, raw, bare-hearted soul with distinct touches of the greats (Holliday, Simone, Bassey, Winehouse, Portishead’s Beth Gibbons) is on the verge of making her a sultry superstar. Her latest album ‘Child Of Sin’ featuring German superstar Till Lindemann (Rammstein) is one of the most open, honest and inspired records to date – like her debut – she is out to find the positive in life’s toughest turns.
In 2025, Kovacs embarks on an exciting next chapter in her career, with new music on the horizon.
