Ghost Bookstore Biography
Ghost Bookstore is an alternative/indie band from South Korea, known for their dreamy soundscapes, introspective lyrics, and nostalgic melodies. Their music blends elements of shoegaze, post-rock, math rock, garage, and lo-fi pop, creating a unique atmosphere like the delicate transparency of glass—seemingly sturdy but easily breakable—or the warm embrace of a sweater shielding you from cold wind. It’s the sound of four bookstore keepers telling stories in a ghostly bookstore.
The band has earned both local and international recognition, with standout performances including opening for Japanese shoegaze band Yuragi in Korea, playing at the Vans Old Skool Block Party, and performing in Tokyo's Shibuya district. They've also shared the stage with Luby Sparks and played at Tower Records, one of Japan's legendary music venues.
They are also gaining attention for their unique fashion and lifestyle, having appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Big Issue magazine. They’ve collaborated with major brands like Uniqlo, further expanding their artistic reach.
In October 2024, they released their debut album, praised by fans and critics for its emotional depth and immersive sound. They were named one of the most anticipated bands of 2025 by the Korea Times, further solidifying their place in the global indie music scene.
Whether on stage or in the studio, the band explores the fragile spaces between memory and imagination, delivering a sound that’s both haunting and comforting.
