High energy hip-hop afro-fusionist, rap meets spoken word and social commentary.
Franz Von is best known as the high octane frontman, emcee of UK renowned jazz fusionists TC & The Groove Family and much loved afrofusion kings K.O.G. & The Zongo Brigade.
A well established artist now introducing his electrifying hip hop afrofusion ensemble. Blending live drums, saxophone, keyboard, mpc and bass guitar with his lyrical prowess. Bringing together their diverse musical backgrounds, the 5 piece have created a dynamic high energy show.
Franz Von's blend of Jamaican dancehall emcee style, classic boom bap hip-hop rap style and his band's live energy has endeared him to audiences around the UK.
Housing previous support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing Leeds & Sheffield, Amazing Radio who handed him a one-off show, as well as BBC Introducing at Radio 1 and DJ Target at BBC 1Xtra, Ministry of Sound, Naga Mag, Word Is Bond, Groovin’ Mood, and more. Franz Von is a Jamaican-born, UK-based artist exploring traditional cultural lineage from Africa through to modern genres. Franz Von has collaborated with the likes of Tony Allen, Onipa, and Wiyaala.
Following the success of pre-released singles ‘Go My Way’ and ‘We live’, his debut album
Take What You Want is highly anticipated.
The album mixes both powerful spoken word and rap with social commentary. The production by Chris Mayall is a blend of live instrument recordings and studio produced tracks exploring the fusion of Hip Hop with elements of Jazz, African Rhythms, Jamaican Dub and UK Bass music.
