ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Meghan Cary is an award-winning performing songwriter, producer, performance coach, and champion for the unifying power of music. With a smoky voice and masterful storytelling, Cary crafts songs that inspire connection and community, earning her Billboard Magazine’s Critic’s Choice Award and comparisons to Melissa Etheridge, Brandi Carlile, and even Bruce Springsteen. Her anthem “Sing Louder” has become a rallying cry for music lovers to raise their voices together in hope and joy.
A favorite on festival stages including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge, Black Bear Americana, and Woodstock, Cary has shared the stage with folk and Americana luminaries such as Joan Osborne, Lucinda Williams, Christine Lavin, and Little Feat. Her latest album, Sing Louder, debuted in the top 10 on the US/International Folk DJ Chart, with WFUV’s John Platt praising her songs as “inspiring us to reach our higher selves.”
As the producer of Philly Songwriters in the Round, Cary curates intimate, collaborative performances that spotlight the diverse voices of the Philadelphia music scene. As a performance coach, songwriting teacher, and keynote speaker, she empowers artists and audiences alike to embrace their authentic stories with humor, heart, and courage.
Cary’s own journey into music was born from grief — after losing her fiancé unexpectedly, she picked up his guitar, wrote her debut album, and sang her way back to hope. An accomplished actor and playwright, she has written and performs a one-woman show, "On the Way to the Waterfall", and is currently collaborating on a Broadway-bound musical. Balancing her creative life with raising two teenage children, Cary speaks with humor and grace about navigating life’s constant rewrites. Her mantra: “If you don’t know the words… sing louder.”
Time Out NY advises: "If you can get to a Meghan Cary show, run, don't walk."
Jillian Matundan, award-winning, multi-instrumental singer-songwriter, trade unionist, and first-generation Filipina American has delighted audiences with her resonant vocals, acute and relatable observations, unique guitar-style, and sense of humor. After a fifteen-year hiatus from music, she ventured to local open mics in 2019 and has been on a tear ever since, winning multiple songwriting awards, playing numerous shows, and collaborating with musicians on stage and in the studio. She released her debut EP, "Hangin' On" in 2020. “Singing to the Moon”, her first full-length album, debuted at No. 6 on the FAI Folk Chart in March 2024.
Best known as fiddler for former band Dead Men's Hollow, Marcy Cochran has since been playing side-woman to songwriters Jeff Smith, Jillian Matundan, Michelle Swan, and others. Now stepping out as a solo instrumentalist, she’s sharing her original fiddle compositions and songs alongside paying tribute to her fiddle mentors. She’s taken up nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle) and is excited to expand and share that journey.
